Identity verification and biometric information

To sell on the Marketplace, we require identity verification. For private sellers this is handled by Plaid Inc., our verification provider. Plaid collects an image of your government-issued photo ID; a photograph of your face compared against the photo on your ID; and your bank account details, connected through Plaid or Stripe using encrypted, tokenized credentials.

We use this only to verify your identity, prevent fraud, and meet our legal obligations. We do not use it for advertising, do not sell or share it, and do not use it to train any model.

Your ID document and facial image are transmitted directly to Plaid. BicycleBlueBook does not receive or store the ID image or the facial image. We receive the verification result and limited confirmed data fields.

Plaid retains the ID image and facial image for the limited period configured in our agreement with our identity verification provider; the confirmed period will be published in this Privacy Policy when finalized. We retain the verification result and confirmation fields for the life of your account plus 7 years.

We ask for your consent before verification begins, and we do not run identity verification without it. If you choose not to complete verification, you can still buy on the Marketplace and use the Value Guide, but you will not be able to sell.

Dealer accounts are verified through an interview and review of business records, including a valid resale number. No facial image is collected for dealer verification.

§ 04

We do not use your sensitive personal information for this, and we do not license listing content to third parties for their own model development.

  • Publicly, in listings you create. Anything in your listing, including photographs, is public.
  • To law enforcement and stolen-property registries, in response to lawful requests and where we receive a credible report that an item is stolen.
  • In a corporate transaction — a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets — subject to this policy or a successor policy.
  • Where required by law, or to protect our rights, users' safety, or to investigate fraud.

We do not sell your sensitive personal information, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

§ 06

Sale and sharing of personal information

Your choices

We share identifiers, internet or network activity, geolocation data, commercial information, and inferences with advertising and analytics partners for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell or share sensitive personal information, and we do not sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16.

You can opt out at any time using the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in our site footer, by adjusting your , or by enabling Global Privacy Control in your browser, which we honor as a valid opt-out signal.

§ 07

Your privacy rights

California residents

You have the right to know, access, correct, delete, opt out of sale or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, limit use of sensitive personal information, and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

How to exercise them — submit a request by email support@bicyclebluebook.com or call (669) 263-6305. An authorized agent may submit a request with written permission; we may still verify with you directly. We respond within 45 days, and may extend once by a further 45 days with notice.

Other US states

If you live in Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have broadly similar rights, plus in most states the right to appeal a denied request. To appeal, reply to our decision or write to support@bicyclebluebook.com.

Global Privacy Control

We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) as a valid opt-out of sale and sharing. If your browser or extension sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out for that browser. Because the signal is browser-specific, it may not apply across devices unless you are signed in.

§ 08

Retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purposes described here, and then delete or de-identify it. Specific periods are in the notice-at-collection table. Where no period is stated, we determine it by how long your account is active; how long we need the information to provide the Services; our legal, tax, accounting, and audit obligations; and how long a dispute, claim, or investigation could arise.

We keep a permanent record of completed sales — item specification, condition, sale price, sale date, and listing photographs — because it is the basis of the Value Guide. These records are associated with the item, not with your name or account, once your account is closed.

§ 09

Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls, and authentication measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Use a strong, unique password and tell us at support@bicyclebluebook.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
§ 10

Children

The Services are for adults. You must be 18 or older to sell on the Marketplace and to hold an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact support@bicyclebluebook.com and we will delete it.
§ 12

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, give notice by email or in-product before the change takes effect. We review this policy at least annually.
