About this bike
Named after a mountain-biking mecca in North Dakota, Salsa's Spearfish XX1 is designed to thrive and sustain you through ultra-endurance, long-distance rides and races. Its light and responsive Salsa butted and shaped 6066-aluminum frame with Split Pivot rear suspension technology lets you push yourself further, faster, and focus less on how far it is to the next feed station. In fact, Salsa-sponsored Kurt Refsnider broke the course record for the Arizona Trail Race 300 on his Spearfish. Like Kurt, you'll love the dialed geometry and extremely short 437mm chainstays for super-agile singletrack performance at speed and confidence-inspiring handling. Adding to the fine ride is a Fox F29 100mm-travel CTD (Climb/Trail/Descend) Evolution fork and Fox's 3-position CTD lever letting you optimize the suspension to the conditions on the fly. And, you'll love steamrolling everything in your path on the big DT Swiss/Stan's 29er wheels with the Schwalbe treads biting hard. You also get SRAM's awesome 1X11 XX1 drivetrain, Avid XX discs for serious speed control and a choice Salsa bar, Thomson stem and seatpost, with a WTB seat for top comfort as you race for 24 hours.
