Up for sale is my 2010 Kona Stinky Deluxe, the bike that revolutionized Free-Ride mountain biking!! The bike is in good shape and hasn't been ridden much in the last 4 years as I have a few other bikes I ride more frequently and I now have 2 young children still in diapers. The time has come to say good bye to a loyal companion as I'd love to see this bike shred again, and I just don't have the time anymore to ride her myself.
A lot of the original components have been upgraded over the years, and some recent work includes a brand new front brake (Lever, Caliper and Pads), and a new drive train (new rear cassette (11-42t), new chain and new long cage rear derailleur (1x10).
The frame is a size Large, but it honestly rides more like a Medium. I'm 5'7 and it's the perfect size for me.
The 1 x 10 drivetrain is solid (and essentially brand new - maybe an hour of riding on it to test it all out), and with the updated rear cassette and long cage derailleur climbing this bike is certainly very doable. It's definitely on the heavier side and the geometry is more downhill oriented, but this bike can (and has) been climbed up anything and everything.
I rode this bike regularly from 2012 until 2017, and it was the perfect bike to learn on... strong, forgiving, beefy brakes and plush suspension..
Note: There is no Dropper Post on this bike, just a quick release on the seat post. It's not ideal, but it's not a huge deal when climbing up fire roads and then descending - just a quick switch over.
The bike is best suited for someone not looking to break the bank, but wants a solid bike to learn and progress on.. not an ideal climber, but the modifications make it decent. It certainly helps if you have decent cardio. The pay-off for riding a heavier and beefier bike to the top of the trail is that you get a beefier and more capable bike to shred on the descent. As a beginner, I liked having the longer travel in both the fork and the shock as well as the beefier rotors on the brakes.
