It's light enough to beat your buddies to the top, then it just rips the downhill. The AS-R 5 sports a stout aluminum frame with a tapered head tube so when you stuff it in a corner or huff and puff up a steep climb, you feel the frame react. It's also stiffer in the mid stroke of its travel, so it feels responsive and snappy out on the trail. The geometry is perfect and balanced with a 67-degree head angle, a low BB and 140/127mm of Fox-controlled travel. This build rocks a full XT 3x10 group, DT Swiss tubeless wheels and an Easton carbon bar. XC or all-mountain? On the AS-R 5, it doesn't matter.
